What Is Amendment 66?
· Amendment 66 is a billion dollar per year tax increase that would raise tax rates from 4.63% to 5% for income under $75,000 and from 4.63% to 5.9% income over $75,000.
Why Is It Bad for Colorado?
· It’s unaccountable. There are no guarantees that the funds raised by this billion dollar per year tax increase will boost children’s academic performance or will reach classrooms.
· It’s unfair. By redistributing funds based on arbitrary zip codes, some children may not receive the education they need or deserve. Taxpayers in some school districts will pay almost twice as much into the system as their school districts get back.
· It’s unwise. Colorado families continue to struggle in this fragile economic recovery. We cannot levy the largest tax increase in Colorado’s history on our families now.
